Hey Preston,
My name is Amy Turner and Im 15 years old, I just wanted to send you a quick email to say thanks so much for last night at Paradise- you were trully amazing and inspirational. I also want to thank-you for helping me accept God and Jesus into my life. I dont know if you will remember me, but I was the one who had short hair and when you invited us up to accept God, I was crying.
The speech you gave last night was excellent, and I want to congratulate you on over coming all your difficulties. What made your speech so special to me was that I was/still am in a similar situation to you. I am a big kid, so get paid out and bullied at school and feel constantly out of place because I dont look like everyone else. Also, like you, I have problems at home and they have torn me up in all ways. Sadly, last year I tried to commit suicide 3 times but either backed out or the attempt failed. However, I was blessed by God and a new person came into my life. She was my role model, she was everything I wanted to be and aspire too. She got me involved with her Church and it was there that I found my feet. Im still struggling, as I'm sure you can relate to- how hard it is to get over the thought that you were about to end your life. Lately, I have been struggling and seemed to be falling back into my old depressive state and was planning over the weekend to say goodbye to my friends, but your speech last night restored hope in me that I could continue; no matter how hard it may be- Jesus will always be beside me and He will carry me when I cant walk myself. And you also renewed my faith in myself, that I dont have to be like everyone else for I am accepted by Jesus in what ever state I am.
Im sure you've been told many stories like this after your many speeches and preachings, but I just wanted to tell you that you have changed another persons life and now I am inspired to become like you and when i leave school i would love to be a preacher- just like you.
Thank-you so much for everything and keep doing your excellent work,
Amy Turner
Dear Pastor Preston
You recently came to speak to our Middle School students at Woodcroft College in Adelaide. I want to pass on to you the feedback that I have received and again say thank you for coming.
I received a card from one of the yr 6’s mum telling me how much of an impact you had on her son.
“He had all my friends up and dancing and the teachers were out the front singing, everyone loved it and he was so funny.”
Her son, Sebastian, said he felt like crying when you were speaking about your story with weight, dyslexia, and a broken home.
She goes on to say, ‘He seemed profoundly affected by this man’s presentation and said, “I will never forget him for as long as I live.”And at the end he said, “You know, all the kids were talking about him for the rest of the day.”’
I don’t usually ever get letters from parents like this, so I know that your visit was very impacting.
Both students and staff were not just entertained but touched by your message. Not only that but we had your rap going over and over in our heads all weekend!
So, thank you very much for your message which you delivered so well that you have impacted so many in such a short time. That is something us teachers dream about. Your message did more for those kids than we could have. Much appreciated.
God bless you in your life and ministry.
